Summit Smith Developments were in need of a new web presence, and 4CDesignWorks came highly recommended to handle the engagement. Building off of the recommendation of a development contact, 4C kicked off the project by inquiring about the high-level wants and needs for the new website: the website was to have some key elements: it had to be accessible by a mobile device, content had to be easily managed and edited, project filtering and highlighting, and a “maintenance mode” display (to accommodate a pending office move).
The architecture and workflow of the site was planned out first, detailing how a user would be able to navigate through the various project types. Each project would have a number of options: from the possibility to include videos, galleries, full descriptions, some quick hit information, as well as the categorization and ability to flag a project to display on the home page and said features were incorporated into the build. The result was a streamlined appearance that showcased the projects and their imagery, but in a grid-like orientation that caters to tablet and other touch activated actions for today’s viewers.
