A Black & Gold Anniversary Celebration
At the end of the year, 4CDesignWorks was contacted by the acting SMPS Pittsburgh Chapter leadership based on a referral of recent anniversary branding initiatives and collaborations, notably the work done for A. Martini.
The hip Sienna Mercato venue downtown was selected as the venue to celebrate the 30th anniversary of SMPS Pittsburgh. The date was set to April 27th and due to some very gracious in-kind sponsorship, there was an opportunity to advertise in the notable Breaking Ground magazine. The only catch? A quick turnaround would be needed for the first advertisement, set to go to print in January.

Logo Design Selection & Magazine Ad Design
With about 2 weeks to work with, the plan was to create some initial logo options with the primary application example being the half-page advertisement. The design team pulled inspiration from the venue and its Deco-like treatments, the SMPS branding, and vintage advertising.
Days after the initial requirements gathering, logo designs, and example advertisements were presented through a screen share session. A unanimous decision was made on the logo design as well as the half-page advertisement. The first advertisement was done in a way that the logo was only hinted at and not officially unveiled until closer to the event.
Promoting The Event
The advertisement was edited for content and sent for production in the January release of the Magazine. Additional promotions happened in the form of email web banner ads and through the SMPS Pittsburgh social media channels of Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Tent cards promoting registration and brief event information were also set out at all SMPS monthly gatherings.
